4 out of 5 stars Innovation vs function   July 27, 2010
Eagle Driver (Alabama)
We've had the DC25 for a couple of months now. It's a very creative design which is relatively light for a full size vac. Easy to maneuver in tight spots as advertised; but does take a bit of getting used to. Doesn't appear to lose any suction as the canister fills; however, it doesn't "appear" to have the suction power of my old Hoover Ultra vac. I say that by comparing how much the carpet nap is "lifted" with each of them. The other complaint is the design of the extension tube which must be lifted from the handle and used with full extension of the shaft. It becomes awkward to use with attachments on things that are close to the vac. The last thing is the somewhat vague intructions on how to release the extension tube. The instructions are mainly pictures which lack some detail.

Overall, I'm happy with the DC25. Amazon had it at good price.

2 out of 5 stars NOT A GOOD VACUUM   July 24, 2010
Bill (Chicago, IL)
I just got one of these to replace my hoover windtunnel vacuum and I am shockingly disappointed in the cord length compared to my windtunnel, and the downgrade of easy access to the hose. I needed to clean dust off a vent and I still have not figured out how to do it with this Dyson. My windtunnel you can just pull the hose out easily without reading any directions because the design of the Hoover Windtunnel just makes common sense click in fast. This dyson, for the price is a real piece of crap. I threw the box out and wonder if I can still return this sorry cheap piece of plastic. If you are able to lift 30 lbs, there is no better vacuum out there than the Hoover Windtunnel and it's only about $160 and it's bagged not bagless but in my experience I've noticed the bagged vacuums just work better. I am so disappointed at all the misleading reviews for this dyson. It takes literally one second to switch from vacuum to the hose for doing vents, stairs etc using the windtunnel. I feel like I'm going to break this Dyson cause it's so fragile. I'm very disappointed with this purchase.

4 out of 5 stars This one delivers   July 23, 2010

Having been a Hoover Wind Tunnel user for 20+ years through its various incarnations, I was skeptical about the switch. But after the first real run, I am sold. This one is compact, clean looking, light, much quieter and much more powerful. No bag, no smell, no mess. Great! The ball is a great idea and it can be useful from time to time. But it's not as flexible as you might believe. A useful improvement for sure. The price isn't so bad at the local Target either. Hoover is much bigger and isn't much cheaper either.

Give it 4 stars for the cleaning job it does and the ease of use.

Now the negatives:
1. the cord is too short. An extension cord solves the problem. But for a $400 sucker, a little extra bit of wire wouldn't be too much to ask I hope.
2. the hose is way too short to be really useful. I have to lift up the whole thing to use the hose with everything fully extended. I don't even have high ceilings! Don't have the extra hose for this one.
3. the extra foot work to open and close the handle bar from and to the original closed position is a hassle. Other brand already does without the good old kick and click routine.
4. the handle can't be locked to the lower position. Would be nice it it could so I can lift the sucker around instead of rolling on the wheels, since it's such a compact device. Wouldn't even think of doing the same for the Hoover.

All in all, it's a game changer for sure, even against the older Dysons. If you have high ceiling, be prepared to carry the whole thing with you onto the ladder!

3 out of 5 stars know the weight   July 21, 2010

This is a very powerful vac--does a great job, but for someone like me on the small side, it is way
too heavy. Each time I used it, I ended up with a horrible stiff neck. Also, I do not think it's easy to
use though others here claim that it is. Figuring out how to extricate the hose to do stairs is very
challenging--as is figuring out how to put it back. I've decided to overhaul my central vac system
and pass this hardly used Dyson onto my more energetic daughter.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Vacuum Cleaner   July 17, 2010
Marissa (Grosse Ile, MI)
I have owned several vacuum cleaner brands - Eureka, Hoover, Kenmore, Bissell. When my last Kenmore vacuum cleaner got clogged, I have had about enough and decided to spend the money on a Dyson. I will never buy another brand, ever! Why I like it - fantastic suction power, light and extremely manueverable, easy to swing around corners, intelligent and elegant design, a handle that detaches to accommodate attachments to clean carpeted stairs, self-adjusting roller brush height for all types of carpets, easy to clean dirt canister and filters, solidly built with materials reflecting high quality, and fantastic suction power [did I already mention this?]. The Dyson ball really works and everything they said in the ad is true! What I don't like about it - my only complaint is the limited standard attachments and a relatively small dirt canister. You have to buy the other attachments which are somewhat costly. The dirt canister needs to be emptied frequently, especially in my household with 2 kids and 3 cats. But you should see all the cat hair it picked up from my carpet!!! The next time your vacuum cleaner breaks down and you end up spending half of its original cost on repairs, get a Dyson. You will not regret it and you will wonder why you waited so long to own one.
